FaceTec Cannot Delete Your Data Because FaceTec Never Got it.
FaceTec is not a Service, it is software that each of FaceTec’s Customers (Like TINDER, MercadoLibre, Hinge, Grindr, and hundreds of others) runs on their own Servers behind their firewalls. FaceTec does not receive or process personal identifying information or other biometric data of End Users of its Customers, so FaceTec does not have your End User data to delete.
How Can You Get Your Data Deleted From a FaceTec Customer?
You will need to contact the company that is running FaceTec’s software and ask THEM to delete your data. Each of the companies that you provided your data to stores it separately and you will need to request each of them delete it.
How is FaceTec Different From Ordinary KYC Providers?
Unlike most KYC providers, FaceTec is not a Service. Most KYC providers receive your data and process it but FaceTec does not through its software receive, process, retain or share any personal identifying information or other biometric data from its customers or partners. The organizations that use FaceTec software control the personal data that users provide to them. So if you want your personal data deleted, you must make your request directly to such companies to delete your data.
FaceTec is Not a Data Controller nor a Data Processor under the GDPR.
Since FaceTec doesn’t receive User data from its Customer’s End Users, FaceTec is not acting as either a data controller or a data processor under GDPR definitions. FaceTec doesn’t receive End User data so it does not control or process it.
What Happened When FaceTec Was Sued Under BIPA? The Case Was Instantly DISMISSED.
A law firm representing some End Users of Match Group dating apps and didn’t do its research before filing a data privacy lawsuit against FaceTec.
FaceTec promptly explained to the law firm, and the Court, that FaceTec doesn’t receive or process data from the organizations that use its software, so there can be no data privacy case against FaceTec. The law firm and the Court agreed and the case was dismissed.
